Three New Firsts
I’m excited to announce I have three new books coming out!
Rover Rolled Over is my first fiction picture book with Lawley Publishing and I’m delighted to add it to my school visit offerings to better serve young primary age students. When Reggie wants a rollicking, frolicking frisky dog of his very own, he has to get creative since the apartment manager doesn’t allow pets. With STEAM elements, internal rhyme and lots of fun, Rover Rolled Over releases officially in March 2026 but I can arrange sales for schools until then, and you can preorder your copy today. When I visit schools, I bring Rover along to roll out of his doghouse to visit students.
One Fine Voice, my first historical fiction middle grade novel, debuts in January, 2026 with Historium Press. This book is the culmination of 18 years of research, writing, and rewriting. It’s based on the same timeframe of Tim Egan’s recent bestselling adult nonfiction Fever in the Heartland when the KKK virtually ran the state of Indiana in 1923, telling the fictional story of a young newcomer entangled in the dark secrets of her new hometown. Just three days after moving to town, Esther Hopkins can’t believe her luck when she’s invited to sing a solo at the 1923 Independence Day picnic. But the group sponsoring the picnic is not the benevolent fraternal order they claim. Worse, they’ve recruited her father to become their chaplain. When they target the immigrant family of her new best friend, Esther must risk her father’s anger, the KKK’s revenge, and her family’s safety to follow her conscience, salvage her friendship, and find the strength to speak truth to power even if it costs all she holds dear.
I’m also delighted to say I have a new nonfiction book with Lawley Publishing coming circa 2027 called Tide Dance. Though I’m known for my nonfiction books, this one is my first about nature, telling the remarkable tale of the California grunion. Inspired by my first grunion run at age 4, this book is my love letter to Southern California beaches.
